Student Pastor Amanda Gastreich’s Message 10/14/18

I am so happy to be joining the Maplewood UMC community! Thank you all for the warm welcome I’ve already received. I wanted to share a little be more about who I am. I’m a native St. Louisan, I grew up in the Carondelet neighborhood before moving to Chesterfield for high school (Parkway Central). I’ve worked in non-profit development (volunteer management, event planning, fundraising and grant-writing) for about 10 years. I’ve worked with Appalachia Service Project (Johnson City, TN), YWCA Metro St. Louis, Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis and Wyman Center. I currently work for Mercy Investment Services, an organization that supports socially responsible investing for the Sisters of Mercy. I have a degree from the University of Evansville in Religion and International Studies as well as a Masters in Public Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I’m in my second year at Eden working towards my Masters in Divinity and am a candidate for elder in the United Methodist Church.

I currently live in Webster Groves with my dog, Leslie, and cat, Orpah. You’ll usually find me exploring local parks with my dog or home crocheting and watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. I’ve also become hooked on running (or really run/walking) in the past year and have spent the summer training for my first half marathon in October.

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and am excited to see what God is doing in the community through MUMC.
