Covenant Bible Study Begins Tuesday, September 15:
Covenant Bible study is a 24-week study which is divided into three 8-week sessions. The goal of Covenant Bible study is to deepen our understanding of scripture through reading the Bible, thinking about how it applies to our life story, and talking about it with other people in the study group. The first 8 week session, “Creating”, will begin on September 15 at 7 p.m. and will be led by Pastor Kim and Colette Cummings. You are welcome to participate in this first 8 week study and then choose whether or not you will continue with the next study. Samples of the participant workbook are in the back of the church.
Beginning on October 1: Thursday evening small group discussion centering on Faith and Racial Justice on October 1, 8, 15, and 22.
The discussion will center around the book “Ferguson and Faith: Sparking Leadership and Awakening Community” by Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, a professor at Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves.
Saturday morning small group led by Steve Shirar and Tom Cordeal begins October 3.
This group will meet on Saturday mornings from October 3 through November 7 at the Bread Company located near Big Bend and Clayton Road. We are going to be reading and discussing the book “Tuesdays with Morrie”, written by Mitch Albom and first published almost 20 years ago. In this book, which I expect many of you have read long ago, Mitch Albom tells the true story of his weekly “tuesday” discussions with one of his former college professors, Morrie Schwartz. Morrie had recently been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and decided to meet with Mitch each week to discuss and convey important life lessons.
