For the past several years at Maplewood UMC we have used Lent, the six weeks before Easter, as an opportunity for growing in our relationship with God and with each other by emphasizing three spiritual practices. We ask folks who are participating to:

1. Pray every day.

2. Attend worship every Sunday during Lent.

3. Take part in a weekly small group.

This year the small groups will focus on reading and studying the Gospel of Luke. The book “Luke’s Gospel from Scratch” will be used as a guide for the small group study. The messages on Sunday will coincide with what the small groups are reading and discussing during the week.  The study books are available next to the sign up easel which is in the gathering space behind the sanctuary.   You are welcome to take a book with you when you sign up.  Daily Reading Guides are also available.

These are the possible dates/times for small group meetings during Lent:

Sunday mornings—9:45 a.m.; beginning on February 17; leadership to be determined

Tuesday evenings—7 p.m.; led by Dennis Collins and Michael Chance, beginning on February 19
