The Bible was written so long ago to people who lived in a culture that was vastly different from the one in which we live now. It is easy to wonder if this ancient book has anything to say about how we might live our lives in our time and place. Beginning on Sunday, January 19 we will engage in a series of sermons in which we read and think about the New Testament book, First Corinthians, which was written to Christians who, were surprisingly enough, “people like us” in their struggle to live according to God’s ways while their cultural environment pulled them in a very different direction. Sermon Discussion groups for this sermon series will be begin the week of January 26 and will meet for the four weeks. We are finalizing the details with leaders for specific dates and times but most likely there will be a Saturday morning discussion group which meets on Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 and a Sunday morning discussion group which meets on Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24, and one additional group which meets on a weekday evening.
