For the past several years the folks at Maplewood UMC have made Lent, the six weeks leading up to Easter, a time to really focus on our faith, both as individuals and as a community. In doing so, we hope to deepen our relationship with God and with the folks who we share our faith journey.
We ask our folks to commit to three spiritual practices during Lent. They are to:
- Pray every day.
- Attend worship every Sunday during Lent.
- Participate in a weekly small group for the six weeks of Lent.
This year we are looking at a book called “Holy Conversation: Talking about God in Everyday Life” by Richard Peace. This book which will guide is in learning how to talk about our faith beliefs in ordinary, everyday language. Part of putting our faith “into our own words” includes figuring out what we really do believe about God and Jesus and how we might be in a relationship with them. There will be plenty of time spent talking about what we really do believe as Christians. These conversations will be meaningful for folks who are at all stages on their faith journey—from those who are exploring the Christian faith to those who have been part of the life of Christian faith for a long time.
All of the small group meetings are at the church. Study materials are provided at no cost to group members. If you are interested or have questions please email Pastor Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org The small group meeting days and times are:
