The 2011 and 2012 Ad Council members met with church consultant, Ken Willard, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon early in October. Ken spent time with the congregation’s leadership providing additional explanation for how the single board model (or alternate/ simplified leadership structure) operates. This change in administrative structure was approved in September at charge conference and will come into effect in January of 2012.
Ken also offered a model for accountable leadership. We have a mission which is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. At Maplewood UMC we express our way of making disciples as “to Gather as God’s people; Grow in faith, love, and service; and Go into the world to do God’s work. “ Ken reminded us of the importance of prayerfully establishing goals for the congregation to help us work toward fulfilling our mission. He then shared ideas about how we can hold ourselves accountable in ways that will help us stay on track toward accomplishing our goals
We give God thanks for leaders who are committed to learning, growing, and serving this congregation in order that we can accomplish all that God is calling us to do!
If you have any questions at all about the change in administrative structure, please contact Pastor Kim or Jerry Blackwell, chair of Administrative Council.
